Dr Sripada Pinakapani grew up in the orthodox family where Carnatic music learning was part of life. Though he could understand and sing those, he thought music was meant only for feminine gender. But during his high school days and medical college days he had spent time learning the music. He has also spent 3 months in violin maestro Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu's school. He has joined his M.B.B.S in 1932 and completed his MD in general medicine in 1945 from AMC , Vishakapatnam.

He held the position of Professor of Medicine on 17 May 1954 and later transferred to Kurnool Medical College on 26 January 1957 and retired in the same position on 2 August 1968.

He had very successful career in Music concert apart from his Medical Profession. He used to visit Madras during Music season and got admired the style of Ariyakudi and Veenai Dhanammal pani in handling auswaram , padam and javali etc. He took those nuances and made his own style.

His Disciples include Carnatic vocalists, Nedunuri  Krishnamurthy, Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana, Voleti Venkatesvarulu, Srirangam Gopalaratnam, the Malladi Brothers and many others.

Sri Malladi Suri babu learned music from Voleti Venkateswarulu and after his demise he learned from Nendunuri Krishnamurthy. Sri Suribabu taught his sons Sreeramprasad and Ravikumar. Suribabu made their sons to learn from his guru Nendunuri Krishnamurhty and his guru Dr.Pinakapani.

Malladi Brothers have become very famous and they are busy in concerts in India and abroad. But they kept learning from their Guru and Guru’s Guru Dr Pinakapani.

Dr Pinakapani at his 98 years , admitted in hospital for age related ailments. Malladi Brothers with their Guru Sri Nedunuri Krishnamurthy paid visit to the legend in hospital. Dr Pinakapani immediately asked to them sing a song and started correcting them by singing. Dr Pinakapani’s relatives are standing outside the ICU, while the students were busy listening their guru.

When the hospital staff enquired Dr pinakapani whether he was teaching them , he immediately corrected them that he was not teaching and he was transferring files.
